H+K’s Dubai office was founded in 1989 and our Dubai team has spent the past 25 years working as trusted communications partners and advisors to local, regional and global clients. As well as employing 40+ consultants, who pride themselves on delivering against our clients’ unique business requirements through truly integrated, effective and measurable campaigns, the Dubai office also serves as our regional headquarters for all our operations across the Middle East, Turkey and Africa. H+K Dubai has a truly diverse client base covering all industry sectors.
And as a supporter of Dubai’s successful EXPO 2020 bid, we are looking ahead and working with our clients to grow their role in this exciting future for the city and emirate.
Bashar is Chief Executive Officer of Hill+Knowlton Strategies MENA, overseeing H+K’s business across the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, responsible for the company’s network of wholly owned offices and affiliate partners across the region.
Bashar has enjoyed a successful 25-year career in public relations and the media business across the Middle East, bringing significant regional experience and international insights to benefit clients. He has lived and worked in the UK, UAE, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain.
He joined H+K from the role of COO at fellow WPP company ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller, a position he filled from 2010 where he helped grow the firm’s client portfolio and was responsible for the company’s network of fully owned offices across the region. Prior to that he held several senior communications posts across the Middle East, serving as Senior Vice President and group controller at the i2 Group, the largest distributor of mobile phones in the region, and director of public affairs at The Coca-Cola Company. He was a founding member of Intermarkets PR in Dubai in 1992.
Bashar also served on the Board of IraQna (an Orascom company), the first mobile phone network in Iraq, in 2004/05. Fluent in Arabic and English, Bashar holds a B.Sc. Honours degree from the Queen Mary College, University of London.
