“Our Abu Dhabi office has seen tremendous growth since it was established in 2007″

Abu Dhabi

H+K established an office in the UAE capital in 2007 and the office has seen growth and success ever since.

The Abu Dhabi team works across key government retainer accounts, as well as a growing portfolio of private sector clients. Among the team’s impressive portfolio is some of the UAE’s pioneering organisations in industries ranging from media and energy to transport, aerospace, and the environment – among others.

Bashar is Chief Executive Officer of Hill+Knowlton Strategies MENA, overseeing H+K’s business across the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, responsible for the company’s network of wholly owned offices and affiliate partners across the region.

Bashar has enjoyed a successful 25-year career in public relations and the media business across the Middle East, bringing significant regional experience and international insights to benefit clients. He has lived and worked in the UK, UAE, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain.

He joined H+K from the role of COO at fellow WPP company ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller, a position he filled from 2010 where he helped grow the firm’s client portfolio and was responsible for the company’s network of fully owned offices across the region. Prior to that he held several senior communications posts across the Middle East, serving as Senior Vice President and group controller at the i2 Group, the largest distributor of mobile phones in the region, and director of public affairs at The Coca-Cola Company. He was a founding member of Intermarkets PR in Dubai in 1992.

Bashar also served on the Board of IraQna (an Orascom company), the first mobile phone network in Iraq, in 2004/05. Fluent in Arabic and English, Bashar holds a B.Sc. Honours degree from the Queen Mary College, University of London.
